Passion for Reformer

Having lived in four different countries, I discovered my passion for reformer pilates by chance at a small studio in Notting Hill in London in 2011. While working long hours for a law firm, I got obssessed with attending regular reformer classes to switch off and unwind after a stressful day and in an attempt to get rid of my lower back pain. As a welcome side effect, I noticed that my body became more toned as I was lengthening my muscles, while I also increased my flexibility with help of the spring tension. I felt really full of energy after each class and my lower back pain and posture started to improve.

As a former athlete (9 times Swiss Table Tennis Youth Champion, World and Swiss Racketlon Champion), I looked for ways to stay in shape and sculpt my body without bulking up. Reformer pilates was exactly what I was looking for!

BASI qualified

I used COVID as an opportunity and decided to pursue my pilates studies to become a teacher. I obtained the BASI (Body Arts and Science International) Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Qualification for equipment, which covers the following apparatus: the Reformer, the Cadillac, the Avalon, the Wunda Chair, the Ladder Barrel and the Spine Corrector. I obtained the qualification in London and I am also qualified to teach mat pilates. I have also been certified by Pilates Suisse.

To further deepen my education, I have completed additional courses including:

  • “Pilates through Pregnancy and Beyond” taught by Ashley Ritchie (BASI mentor) which focuses an pre- and postnatel women with specific exercise modifications for each stage and covers special conditions including Diastasis Recti

  • “Set up for Success” (part 1 and 2) taught by Rael Isacowitz, the founder of BASI Pilates.
